What is Giclée printing?

Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay" [ˈʒiːkleɪ]) is an inkjet printing method on canvas, paper or photo paper that achieves the highest possible quality. It is used for high-resolution graphics, art reproductions, professional photography and other work that demands the very best. Reproductions printed this way look like the original — brushstroke textures are visible on the surface, inviting you to touch them. Works printed on a Giclée printer are long-lasting and excellent for archival preservation. The inks are environmentally friendly, and properly cared-for prints remain unchanged for many years.

What is a reproduction?

A reproduction is a printed copy of a work of art. We print with a CANON© PRO printer — pigment printing of the highest possible quality, far superior to solvent printing. We use original, natural Canon canvas, stretched onto a wooden frame in our workshop in Lithuania. The artist receives a royalty for every reproduction made of their work.

What is pigment printing?

Canvas is usually printed using one of two methods: solvent or pigment printing. They differ considerably in quality and colour brilliance. Solvent printing is intended for banners and advertising; hanging a cheaply printed photo canvas at home can even be harmful to your health, as solvent-type inks gradually release toxic substances. The pigment inks and varnish we use are water-based and harm neither the environment nor the customer. Properly prepared, this print is durable, light-fast and remains unchanged for many years — such reproductions are archival quality.

What is a digital artwork?

Some of the artists in our gallery create their works not with paint but on a computer. In that case printing is the only way to "materialise" the work. Our canvas printing is the highest-quality way to do that.

Can a reproduction be enlarged or reduced?

Yes. We sell copies in the original size, but many can be proportionally enlarged or reduced. Contact us if a particular work interests you in a slightly different size.

How long does an order take?

Every reproduction is made individually for you in Lithuania. From order to delivery in Germany usually takes 10–14 business days; in some cases we can speed the process up. Contact us if the delivery date matters to you.

I have my own photo / artwork I would like printed in the highest quality. Is that possible?

Of course! We print with CANON PRO series printers on natural canvas or paper. Our prints are of the highest quality and archival grade. The print resists fading for 80 years in light and 200 years in dark storage. The maximum print width is 1 metre. The file should be prepared at 300 dpi (minimum 150 dpi), with 5 cm bleed for canvas and 1 cm for paper. Contact us by e-mail to learn more.
